Pétanque Club

Club first meets in W-105, two days a week (Tue/Thur) after school. Weather permitting, they then go outside to play.

The game of pétanque is the quintessential French game. It involves a great deal of address and strategy. Players use metal boules and try to get closer to a smaller target ball called the cochonnet. The object of the game is to throw your boules so that they land closer to the cochonnet, or strike and drive your opponent's boule away from the target ball. Players who wish to be officially licensed as a pétanqueur must pay $10 annually. This is not a requirement to be in club, but it is valuable to have a license for players interested in playing in tournaments.
