Testing is an important part of the college admissions process. It is not the only component that matters in your application but it is a crucial piece that you can have an impact on. Many free resources are available online and are well-worth the time and effort to explore. There are many opportunities to take practice tests to help improve your scores. What will not help your cause is doing nothing, so do something!

Many students ask about ACT vs SAT and which test they should take. Typically most colleges will accept either the ACT or SAT. Some selective colleges also require SAT II Subject Tests. Starting in the Spring of 2017, all Juniors in Colorado take the SAT and all colleges in state accept it. To determine which test(s) you should take, always consult each specific college.

The ACT assesses skills and knowledge acquired since middle school. It consists of 4 sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. There is also an optional Writing test.
